It is the headquarters of the district. It has a population of 466,325 agglomeration (6 to 8 lakhs). Nizamabad is the 10th largest city, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Nizamabad Town is one of 36 mandals in the Nizamabad district. It is located 171 kilometres (106 mi) north of state capital, Hyderabad.
